1-119 Clarges Street | Mayfair

Enjoy this calming Mayfair retreat featuring fine furnishings and air-conditioning

A flat in Mayfair between Curzon Street and Piccadilly/Green Park has to be perfect! And this one bedroom flat is just that–wonderful! Berkeley Square is two blocks away. Green Park and on to Buckingham Palace is just down the Street. The fabulous shops of Mayfair are just out the door. A wonderful walk would be down Clarges St to Piccadilly, through Green Park to Buckingham Palace and on through St James’s Park to the Houses of ParliamentBig BenWestminster Abbey, and Westminster Pier on the River Thames. Some of the best shops in London are in the neighborhood of this flat: Old Bond, Philip Mould on Dover Street, tie shops on Maddox Street, clothing on Saville Row, and the most fabulous jewels on Albermale Street and New Bond Street. GREEN PARK TUBE STATION is just and the end of the Road–on the Piccadilly Line, the most central line in London. It could not be better located. This wonderful flat is located on the first floor of a period building at the top of Clarges Street, just off Charles St and has easy access to all the amenities around Berkeley Square: groceries, banking, fine art shops, and excellent clubs and restaurants. My favorite Middle Eastern snack bar is just around the corner, and when I am hungry for spicy food, that’s where I go. This is one of the best neighborhoods of London.

There is a PRIVATE ELEVATOR from the entrance lobby directly into the flat. The LOUNGE is a good size with nice pieces of antique furniture and decorative items.  There is a wonderful 17th century drop leaf table for dining and amazing antique Victorian chairs. To learn more about the furnishings, read the Anglophile blog article on our website. The open plan KITCHEN has all machines of the highest standard: hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge/freezer. The washer/dryer is in the bathroom cupboard. The BEDROOM is comfortable, good size, and lined with closet space and offers a large UK KING size bed, side tables, and good lighting. MASTER BATHROOM is EN SUITE and has a shower over the tub with wash hand basin and loo–beautiful equipment. There is a gent’s loo with a sink and loo in the hall, giving a SECOND TOILET STATION for busy mornings. After last summer’s heat wave in London, the good news is the flat benefits from AIR CONDITIONING! Fantastic. There is a private phone, TV, and WiFi for a visitor’s comfort. This property is outstanding, in a good location, and is absolutely newly refurbished. If you are in this budget and want to be in this outstanding location, this is flat is perfect. Nice.

We really liked this particular flat. It was conveniently located and we greatly appreciated the fact that it was air-conditioned at a time when London was hot and humid. The kitchen was satisfactorily equipped and the dining table large enough that we could have friends over for dinner one night. We liked the antique furnishings. The bed was comfortable and the bedroom had ample storage and closet space. Of all the London Connections locations we have stayed in over the years this would be one of our favourites.

We had a wonderful time. A heat wave hit – so it was hotter than we would have liked, but not a drop of rain! I haven’t been back to London in 23 years – when I lived there for a semester at school. It was so great to see the city again and tour around. My daughter loved it! She picked the itinerary and we checked off everything on her list. I will definitely use London Connection for my next trip – and will happily recommend it to others. The flat layout was great and had everything we needed. The location is central and a great jumping-off point.

Everything was perfect – a lovely setting, with all the comforts of home, right in the middle of the beauty and bustle of London.

Every person on staff with London Connection – booking, drivers, housekeeping, keyholders – were responsive to our needs.

I have already recommended London Connection to friends and family and will certainly be in touch the next time I travel to this great city.

The flat was good and well furnished. The location of the flat it easy to commute to various part of London, either by underground or buses.

We found useful tips in the guest books as well as from the London Pass booklet found in your study table. There are so many things and places to visit in London that we had to pick and choose some of them. We hope to come again in future to explore other areas of London, perhaps in Spring to see the flowers and more of the sun.

We appreciate that your company is able to provide a very comfortable and cosy place for us to stay. We look forward to staying with London Connection.

We had a superb stay in the Clarges flat; the location was wonderful. The flat was very functional, we would recommend it to others for sure. Ricardo gave us a primer on how to use each appliance and that knowledge was most helpful. We had plenty of space and found the layout of the flat so practical. The furnishings were elegant and the bed comfortable. Who could ask for more?

We walked almost everywhere; over to Westminster Abbey for Evensong, to the Portrait Gallery, up Bond to Regent & Oxford St.shopping, visited Hatchard’s, Whitehall, etc. We had our favourite meal at 7 Park Road and enjoyed Shepherd Bush restaurants.
We got Oyster cards and really just used them to get to Tate Modern and the Imperial War Museum; we ended up getting a refund.

Our trip was a dream, we’re so pleased to have been able to use Clarges as our home base.

After staying in the Knightsbridge area since 1992 it was difficult to change neighborhoods but our fears soon disappeared.

Clarges proximity to the Green Park tube station proved to be worth a significant time savings over using South Kensington or the Knightsbridge stations. Also it was much more convenient to walk, cab or Uber from Mayfair.
The restaurant selection within a short walking distance was also much better with larger variety both in cost and cuisine.

While we did miss the quite neighborhoods on Egerton and Beaufort and the extra bedroom in those flats we are still very pleased with Clarges.
We hope to return to London in 2017 and plan to use Clarges again if available.

Excellent trip. So much fun. Loved the flat. Perfect location. The flow of the flat was really nice and logical. Loved the decorating in the living area. Also the elevator direct entry into the flat was awesome.

Thanks so much. I’ll be back.

The rental in Mayfair, London was fabulous. It is situated in a great location – a easy walk to many major tourist sites as well as food stores and restaurants. Everything went so smoothly from our pick-up at Gatwick to the check-in with Ricardo to the transport back to the airport at the end of our trip.

The apt. was clean, comfortable, with all the amenities. Everything worked and one evening when we wanted a little heat and couldn’t figure out how to turn it on, I emailed Ricardo and Cristina and had an email back with the instructions in a few minutes.

We will definitely rent again through London Connection which will hopefully be in a year or two. Unfortunately, your properties get booked very quickly and often for us, it’s difficult to plan so far ahead.

We had a wonderful visit to London and our stay at the Clarges flat was most enjoyable. Everything about it was perfect. We lacked for nothing.

The flat was large and well apportioned, the decor very nice, the bed comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and the sitting room very much used at the end of the day. Having two washrooms, an air conditioner and a lift were a bonus. Location was great. We appreciated the proximity to the Underground, Shepherd Market, grocery shops, shopping, sights, banks, etc., etc., etc.

We wouldn’t hesitate staying here again should we return to London. This was our first time dealing with London Connection and we had a very good experience.

A great apartment in a great location for a couple. The apartment is very modern and well appointed, and the living room is full of attractive and well-placed antiques. We were across the street from Tesco Express and within easy walking distance of many restaurants, including those in Shepherd’s Market, and we delighted in being in the living room when we got tired.

My husband and I had the best stay at 119 Clarges Street. The flat is pretty and comfortable and up-to-date (new appliances, AC) but nice antiques. We’ve been to London over a dozen times but previously stayed at hotels or clubs in Mayfair. This is so much easier. The experience with London Connection was outstanding, from start (booking with Utah) to finish (departing with a London Connection limo.) We had so much fun at theaters, ballet, concerts, restaurants, and museums that we’ve again booked the flat for two weeks in August 2017 and the one above it for the same time for our two daughters.

    12. David

We found the Clarges apartment experience a most enjoyable one. It is a first class apartment in an excellent location (shops, restaurants, pubs and the tube).
The furnishings, fittings and decorations are quite amazing and, as previously, Cristina’s assistance was marvelous.

Since returning, we have recommended London Connection to several family members and friends.

Once again, our appreciation to all at LC.

We had a really perfect stay in London. To deal with London Connection was only a pleasure.
The apartment in Mayfair is very well maintained and there is anything you may need during your stay. The apartment is perfect in every regard, the bed is very comfortable. Something special is, that the lift goes directly into the apartment. It’s so lovely to come back into a real home after a busy day in this wonderful City.
A lot of Pubs and Restaurants are nearby.
The driver service and the service from London Connection after our arrival at the Apartment was so friendly and perfect!! Thank you.
If we visit London again, we will definitely book with London Connection.
All over all we highly recommend this apartment and London Connection.

We spend two afternoons in a Blues Club called Ain’t nothing but…..You find this Club in 20, Kingly Street, near Oxford Circus. Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 8 pm there is Blues Session for free. We have been there 18 years ago and nothing has changed. It’s small, so come early to get a seat.

The apartment Clarges Street was a wonderful place from which to plan my adventures. I was so comfortable there that it was often difficult to leave! I particularly enjoyed the desk in the corner of the living room, right over Clarges and Curzon Streets. There were wonderful street views throughout the day, which was enjoyable since I did have some work to do while I was traveling. Please also know how much I appreciate the secure wifi and your stringent no smoking policies. London Connection is the only lodging venue I consider when scheduling a trip to London.

    15. John

“We recently stayed at Clarges Street. It is a most comfortable flat in a superb location. We used the recommended hire car from the airport which worked perfectly. Christina was waiting at the flat on our arrival to explain all the bathroom and kitchen fixtures which are very complete. It is superbly located with a mid size Tesco Supermarket over the road and a large Sainsbury supermarket round the corner. Green Park tube station is a five minute walk and the Shepherd’s Market area abounds in restaurants. Favourites of ours include Sofra for Turkish food and the Wolsey on Piccadilly for traditional English fare. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would book the same flat again on a future visit to London, were it available.”

    16. Tricia

We loved our stay in the flat. It was very well appointed and very clean. It has a large shower and spacious closets to unpack your suitcases. The wood floors and antiques gave it a comfortable at home feeling. Having the second half bath was also a lovely plus. This is a great location in and of itself. It is also very close to Green Park tube which is a larger station that connects to many other stops easily. Burger and Lobster across the street may seem a little pricey initially but some of the best lobster I have had in several years well worth it for a casual meal. We found the “London Walks” tours to be very interesting and informative. They can be found on line by that name, no scheduling ahead needed. If you want to go to Oxford the train from Paddington Station was affordable, quick and very comfortable. Overall, I would recommend getting comfortable with the Tube or the double decker buses. I found hailing a cab to be quite difficult. Londoners are very friendly and helpful. We loved all the food: meat pies from pubs, Masala Zone for indian, Best Vegetarian Ethiopian at Camden Market- WOW!, Leones for a quick meal (several fast food chain). If you love tea, don’t miss the original Twinings tea near LSE and financial districts. They have teas that are only sold there. Favorite pub the Black Friar. The London Eye at Sunset gives spectacular views. We saw Phantom of the Opera performed exquisitely. Basically, so much to see and do it is hard to put it all down. This however is a great flat to see and experience everything and come back after a long day and relax in before you start again.

Our London vacation was wonderful! The flat we rented from you couldn’t have been in a better location. Mayfair was a vibrant little neighborhood with everything we needed.

We were very close to the Green Park tube station and we used our Oyster cards all week to get everywhere. We did use your transportation to and from the airport, which is the only way to go. Your drivers were timely and courteous . Trying to use the tube with luggage would have been very stressful, especially when the train cars are crowded.

There were many restaurants in all price ranges that we could walk to from our flat as well as grocery stores for quick meals/ snacks.

The flat was well appointed and air conditioned. Plenty of hot water and a comfortable queen size bed were exactly what we needed after our busy days of sightseeing.

We would definitely use this lodging option again and would highly recommend it to travelers wanting to have an authentic London experience .

    18. Marek

We had a wonderful time in London and were very happy to return to our comfortable flat at the end of every busy day. Very glad to have the air conditioning the week we were there–not sure how we could have gotten on without it as one of the days was 97 F.! Every comfort of home, the extra half bath very handy for getting ready, and the kitchen made it so easy to have breakfast at home rather than spending time/money doing so when out. The only suggestion I would have is the addition of a coffee table in front of the couch, as there was no place to put beverages while watching TV.

As to things done, Wimbledon was incomparable (Disney World for tennis fans, as we are) and so easy to get to on the tube, and simply walking the parks was very satisfying. Hyde Park, in particular, was an unexpected urban oasis and unbelievably huge and well-kept. Loved the restaurants in Shepherd Market (especially Da Corradi), and Burger & Lobster was great fun (still don’t know who would go 20 pound for a burger however). Proximity to Tesco Express was a big plus, and just the accessibility of almost everything to Mayfair was most welcome.

As many things as we did, we left with a longer list than we started with, so will definitely make it a priority to get back as soon as possible! Working with London Connection was seamless and confidence-inspiring, from initial reservation to flat greeting to airport transport. Thanks for facilitating a wonderful trip.

We’re back in the States now, and I just wanted to let London Connection know what a WONDERFUL experience we had! Our greeter was so prompt and helpful, and the flat far surpassed our expectations. It was so comfortable and so well-equipped–it really felt like having our own home in London, and I can’t imagine we will ever go back to staying in hotels.

Many thanks for a truly memorable experience!

    20. Kathy

We loved the flats – both the 1st floor and 2nd floor flats at Clarges Street. The flats had everything we needed on vacation. Since we have a 3-year-old, it was especially nice to have a kitchen and a washer/dryer. The location was ideal! We were able to get around London with no problem (well, the only problem was when we drove back from the Cotswolds to the flat, but that had nothing to do with LC). Ricardo explained everything about the flats to us when we got there. He even had the AC on because it was a little muggy on our arrival. My son loved the foldaway bed and he was so happy to have it during both stays.

We certainly appreciated having LC arrange for our rides to and from Heathrow. Having our rides arranged in advance made the trip go smoothly. It was nice that Joe found us at the airport (because we were waiting at the wrong location) and John came to pick us up early for the ride to Heathrow.

LC made our trip really easy. Thanks for having such responsive staff.

When we return to London, we hope to book with London Connection again.

Location, Location, Location and fabulous flat! Had several conversations with Tom about which flat to choose for me and my husband, he kept saying Clarges Street and he was spot on! Green Park and Piccadilly at end of street, a block from Green tube station, which has main lines to take you anywhere, even to the O2 in Greenwich! Shepards Market around the corner with a sandwich shop at entrance for a picnic in the park, and amazing Italian restaurant a few steps in, many other restaurants of all kinds and great home cooked pub food! Also directly across the street is a Tesco for the necessities including yogurt, fresh fruit and wine! And a Lebanese restaurant outside the door for a late night snack! We stayed in Tom’s flat on Green Street 2 1/2 years ago with our children, that was a great flat too, but the location of this is my favorite! London Connection is the real deal, what you see is what you get, no bait and switch! So I imagine whichever property one stays at, it will be fabulous! Wish Tom operated in other european countries. We want to travel to other countries, but Tom and his crew make it so easy to go to London! Can’t wait to go back! Thank you to Tom and all involved!!

What a wonderful trip to London for our first visit there and what a wonderful flat!
It could not have been better because for 2 people it was the perfect size and the best location we could have asked for.
We can’t wait to go back.

    23. Harminder

The apartment was absolutely perfect to tour the key attractions in Central London. Located in the prestigious Mayfair, close to great hotels, restaurants, and easy access to the tube via Green Park. Great little market around the corner called Shepards Market which included everything from a pharmacy, cafe’s, pubs, and hairdressers. The best aspect was the amazing service from the company from booking, to check-in and transport back to the airport. Highly recommend this apartment and the company!

    24. Katherine Flynn

I am staying in this lovely flat now & love it!!…the location is outstanding & the comforts are remarkable!!…i would definitely stay here again & highly recommend this company & its kindness & help!!

Lovely spacious one bedroom apartment in Mayfair. I rented this apartment from June 23rd to July 2nd for myself and I was not disappointed. There are two entrances one by stairs(first floor) and the other by direct access by elevator, which I used the most. Colours are a soothing blue and are identical to the pictures. Everything works in this apartment and it is full of light and in summer has individually controlled air conditioning for the living room and bedroom. Additionally there is a two piece loo in the hallway as well as the main ensuite. The King bed is very comfortable. Location cannot be beat about 5 mins walk to Green Park tube. Only negative is the noise from Burger and Lobster a very busy restaurant accross the street which is always busy with line ups and can go quite late into the evening. The local residents are trying to address this issue directly with the restaurant and local council (didn’t bother me at all). Highly recommended.

I can write a book on how very wonderful this place is. From the convenience of being picked up at the airport to the service we received upon our arrival. Very nice to have all the kitchen appliances including coffee maker and a blender, along with washer and dryer. Included with washing clothes was special soap for 5 loads of laundry. Last day of stay maid service take over to changes sheets and wash any towels. The location in Westminsteris the Mayfair district, location is incredible, super close to everything. Feel free to walk the streets late at night or early morning in that entire area. Easy access to walk to everything. We were about 35 to 40 feet from the mini market across the street. We ran into Keifer Sutherland which is a wonderful person. Currently filming the series 24 in London. My grandson took a picture with him. Three of us, very comfortable with out 15 year old grandson. I would come back here in the future.

    27. Judith Ingraham

Great location, wonderful flat! The flat is clean, efficient and pretty, with a nice mix of modern and antiques. The bed is very comfortable. Lots of hot water, good shower, washer / dryer worked fine, good heater. I would happily stay at the flat again. Shepherd’s Market and Berkeley Square are just a couple of blocks away. The Green Park tube station is about 1 1/2 blocks away, so all of London is easily accessible. For the neighborhood, all the conveniences and all the extra space, it was quite a deal compared to a hotel. My husband and I would happily stay at the flat again.

    28. Nancy Sparrer

119 Clarges Street is the perfect size flat for 2 people. The location is so convenient. Close to Green Park Tube Station, walking distance to Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, National Gallery and many many more sites. I was traveling with my 16 yr. old daughter. We felt safe and secure there. Many great restaurants and shopping as you stroll along. The Ritz Carlton is a block away, neighborhood is fantastic. The property is clean and decorated nicely. I would Deffinetly stay at this property again.
